Moses Goes to a Concert

Millman, I. (2002). Moses goes to a concert (Sunburst ed.). New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

Moses goes on a school field trip to listen to a concert played by a symphony orchestra. The only difference between Moses’ class and other classes is that everyone in the class is deaf. Moses and his peers will see and hear the concert very differently than the other students in the audience.

Genre: Picturebook, Culturally Diverse book, Realistic Fiction, Concept Book

Grades: Pre-K through 12th grade

Audience: Students, Parents, Educators

I would give this book a four because I love the story, the characters, and the message of the story. The illustrations were great and I loved how they showed pictures of the characters signing. However, I do wish that the illustrations on all the signs were depicted better so the readers could sign along with the characters.
