Personal response and rating: I though one of my favorites by Patricia Polacco. The story itself was very original. I think the book is relatable to children who have ever felt forgotten or even have divorced parents. Rating: 4
Question: Has anyone ever forgotten a friend’s or sibling’s birthday?
Reading Strategy Connection:
a. Reading strategy: Interactive read-aloud
b: This strategy involves reading out loud to the classroom and stopping periodically to discuss certain pages or ideas.
c: This strategy would work wonderfully with this book because the book has a lot of unpredictability and it is not entirely clear of the story will end. Children can guess how they think the story will page by page.
